In 1920, the British Army regiment the 1st Battalion, [[Connaught Rangers]] mutinied at several stations in North West India due to the actions of the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_and_Tans Black and Tans] in Ireland. The mutiny commenced at [[Jullundur]], but escalated at [[Solon]] where soldiers guarding the munitions store were killed.<ref name=CRM>archangel9 et al.
