Also known as the '''Deoghar Railway''', the DR was a very short (only 5 miles long) metre gauge([[Rail_gauge_#Metre_Gauge|MG]]) line which branched off the [[East Indian Railway|East Indian Railway's]] main line between [[Madhupur]] and [[Luckeeserai]] at [[Jasidih]].

The railway served one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage centres in India, located in the town of [[Deoghar]], also known as Baidyanathdham which is now the name of the terminus. Under Indian Railways, the DR has been converted to broad gauge as part of Project Unigauge.
