'''Gilgit-Baltistan''' was annexed by the British in 1846 after the [[1st Sikh War]] and tranferred to the ruler of Jammu and [[Kashmir]].
 
The Gilgit-Baltistan region of [[Pakistan]] was created after Partition. From 1970s until 2009, it was known as Federally Administered Northern Areas (FANA).
It includes the areas of [[Gilgit Agency]], [[State of Hunza|Hunza]], [[State of Nagar|Nagar]] and [[Baltistan]].
