==History==The ITC suffered losses Tramway ran between the towns of [[Arkonam]] and in 1870 went into liquidation. The lines were taken over by the [[Carnatic RailwayConjeeveram]] Company, a new company formed for the purposeline length of 18.8miles (30.3km)

In 1874The Record <ref name= Surrender/> shows that this was the only line constructed by the ITC, except for a "provisional contract with the merged companies were renamed the [[South Indian Railway]](SIR)French Government for making a railway from Pondicheri".
