The cantonment was established in 1821 and until the end of the century controlled the entire [[Nagpur District]].
==CemeteryCemeteries==Christ Church Cemetery Kamptee is a vast, now-nearly ruined old graveyard which is just opposite the Church, but on the other side of the road. It is now under the control of the CNI and adjoins the RC cemetery.
