The Kasur-Lodhran Railway was completed in 1909/10 by the Southern Punjab Railway (SPR) as part of the Sutlej Valley Railway irrigation project. The line linked Kasur to Lodhran, a length of 208 miles(332km), where it connected to the SPR mainline to Karachi.

‘However from 1914 onwards, owing to the First World War, which caused financial strigencyt, developments of railways stagnated....in order to meet the necessities of the military authorities the Sutlej Valley Railway, from Kasur to Lodhran, with 208 miles of track, was dismantled in 1917.
