Please take this into account when reading the information below.  This is not an official page of the LDS church. For information on how to use these microfilms to find your ancestors, please refer to the webpage on Using OIOC Church Records on Microfilm. This page is a list of the microfilms available for the parish register transcripts of Protestant and Catholic churches in the Presidency of Bengal, 1713-1948. They were filmed by the LDS (Mormon) genealogical society and are available for viewing by all persons. The original records are at part of the Asia, Pacific & Africa Collection, operating out of the OIOC or Oriental and India Office CollectionsAsian & African Studies Reading Room, now part of the British Library in London.
There are also pages available for the Presidencies of Madras and Bombay.
The Presidency of Bengal mainly included the modern-day states of West Bengal (including Calcutta), Bihar and Orissa. At times the Presidency extended to Punjab and most of Northern India, extending west to parts of what is now Pakistan, including Lahore, Multan, Peshawar and Rawalpindi. It includes returns from the British colonies of Burma, Malacca and Singapore.
Indexes are arranged alphabetically within each year. The numbers in the middle column below refer to the years covered by the microfilm. The numbers in the right-hand column are the microfilm numbers.
