Situated '''Lansdown''' was a cantonnement in Garhwal District, Western District of the [[Kumaon|Kumaun]] Division, [[United Provinces]], between [[Dehra Dun]] 150 km to the north, and [[Naini Tal]] and [[Almora]] to the south, Lansdowne It was a cantonment established in 1887. Originally named Kaludanda, on 21 September 1890 it was renamed Lansdowne after the then Viceroy of India, Lord Henry Lansdowne
