These volumes are book-keeping exercises, enabling the accountants to assess the costs of running Offices and Departments. Covenanted, Uncovenanted and other junior staff all appear. Staff are not indexed. For each Government branch, the offices/stations are listed along with the page on which staff costs, etc. are detailed. Some volumes, near the front, show abstracts of 'numbers' indicating for example for Ecclesiastical, the overall number of chaplains or clerics, etc. within the Presidency.
