On 15 January 1958, North ‘North Eastern Railway Railway’ was split into two zones, being Northeast Frontier with what had been the ‘[[Assam Railway, ]]’ and the Pandu region of ‘[[Darjeeling-Himalayan Railway]]’ becoming the former North Eastern ‘[[Northeast Frontier Railway with the exception of the Purnea (exclusive)—Murliganj and Banmankhi—Behariganj Sections]]’, and the remainder left as North ‘North Eastern RailwayRailway’.
