The '''Oudh and Tirhut Railway''' (O&TR) was formed on 1 January 1943 from the merger of the [[Bengal and North-Western Railway|Bengal and North-Western]], the [[Lucknow-Bareilly State Railway]] and [[Rohilkund and Kumaon Railway|Rohilkund and Kumaon Railways]].<ref>Great Britain. On 14 April 1952, the O&TR was amalgamated with the [[Bengal and Assam Railway|Assam Railway]] and the Kanpur-Achhnera (Cawnpore-Agra) section of the [[Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway]] to form the '[[North Eastern Railway]]', one of the zones of Indian Railways.
