On 14 April 1952, the O&TR was amalgamated with the [[Bengal and Assam Railway|Assam Railway]] and the Kanpur-Achhnera (Cawnpore-Agra) section of the [[Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway]] to form the '''[[North Eastern Railway'']]', one of the zones of Indian Railways.
