Originally named the '''Rajpura-Pattiala Railway''', the '''Rajpura-Bhatinda Railway''' was a broad gauge ([[Rail_gauge#Broad_Gauge|BG]]) connecting line between [[Rajpura]], to the north-west of [[Ambala]], and the important junction at [[Bhatinda]]a distance of 108 miles(172km).
