Prior to 1924, there were a limited number of Indians who were part of the Royal Artillery, although they were not generally eligible to serve. During the [[First World War]] there were Lascars in the Royal Artillery, with some examples of Indians in the Royal Horse Artillery,<ref>Sepoy.
