Ryam Sugar Factory Railway

'Bengal and North-Western Railway' corrected
The Ryam Sugar factory was incorporated in 1914 as the Tirhut Co-operative Sugar Co Ltd. The town is now known as Raiyam and is located 15 km north-east of [[Darbhanga]]. The factory had two 2ft/610mm narrow gauge([[Rail_gauge#Narrow_Gauge|NG]]) lines operating as a field system to bring cane into the factory:-
*One line, 14km long, to Mokaddampur, which remained in use until the site closed in 1994 <ref name =darvill>“Industrial Railways and Locomotives of India and South Asia” compliled by Simon Darvill. *The other line, 10 km long, to Sakri Junction, a station on the on the '[[Bengal Nagpur and North-Western Railway]]'(BNRBNWR) 'Darbhanga-Bhaptiahi Branch Line'. This line had closed 'many years ago' <ref name =darvill/>.
