A '''Sepoy''' is an [[infantry ]] rank given to Indians serving in native infantry regiments. It is equivalent to [[Private]]. Sepoys could be found in both British/Company and [[Portuguese]] forces.
The term was also used as a general one for all native soldiers irrespective of rank.
