Changes

Those built for Royal Service have the letters H.M.S. after them; those for the [[East India Company|Hon. Company]], whether Naval or Mercantile Service, H.C.S.; the remainder being either private merchant ships or uncertain. All the earlier vessels, described in the list as 'grabs' were built, we believe, for the [[Bombay Marine]]. Three ships of the name of 'Bombay' appear in the above list, of which the last, launched in 1793, was the thirty-eight-gun frigate which, in 1805, was handed over to the [[Royal Navy]], with the 'Cornwallis', fifty-six guns, the ships being re-named respectively the 'Ceylon' and 'Akbar'. The List has no pretention to absolute accuracy.
