The Sibsagar Mounted Rifles were a volunteer corps based in Assam.

Chronology

  • 1884 raised as Sibsagar Mounted Rifles on 29th February [1]
  • 1886 renamed the Sibsagar Mounted Infantry on 30th April[1]
  • 1889 resumed original designation of Sibsagar Mounted Rifles on 15th February[1]
  • 1891 amalgamated with several other corps to become the Assam Valley Mounted Rifles[2]
