Comment on location

Can’t pinpoint this place. There are several places called Bari in the India Gazetteer but without a hint of coordinates it is impossible to guess which. My account of the Mutiny doesn’t mention Bari in March 1858 (only the recapture of Lucknow) but says the Maulvi of Faizabad, having escaped from Lucknow, was defeated by Hope Grant at Bari in April. No indication where it was though.--Sy 09:47, 3 June 2008 (PDT)

Battles & Actions in British India 1600-1900 records Baree as being in Oude. From the gazetteer I assume this is Bari near Lucknow and have now found a contemporary account.--Sy 07:27, 12 November 2008 (PST)
