The '''Thanesar-Kaithal Railway''' was a branch line of [[Delhi-Umballa-Kalka Railway]](DKR). <br>The ‘Kaithal Branch’, 30 miles(48km) actually ran from Kurukshetra and opened in Dec 1910<ref name=Admin>[https://archive.org/stream/BombayBarodaAndCentralIndiaRailwaySystem/Bombay_Baroda_And_Central_India_Railway_System#page/n69/mode/1up “Administration Report on Railways 1918” page 60 (pdf69)]; Retrieved 14 June 2020</ref>.
The DKR Company signed a contact in 1909 with the Government of India([[Government of India |GoI]])GoI for the construction and working of the Thanesar-Kaithal Railway line <ref name=name/>. This branch was operating in 1912 making Kaithal an important trading centre.
