Chronology
- 1823 raised as 1st Btn 33rd Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry following 1796 reorganisation when previous 33rd was absorbed by 8th Regiment
- 1824 1st Battalion became 65th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry under Major J Delamaine
In the Indian Mutiny the regiment did not rebel and, in the ensuing disbandment of Bengal Army regiments, the 65th became the tenth most senior.
- 1861 became 10th Bengal Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
