Summary
The control of Holland by the French in the French Revolutionary Wars brought Dutch trading interests in the Indies into conflict with the East India Company. Expeditions were sent from Madras which occupied Malacca, Amboyna, Banda and Ternate but they were restored under the Treaty of Amiens in 1802.
