Chronology
- 1799 raised as 2nd Btn 19th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry following 1796 reorganisation when previous 19th became 2nd Btn 11th Regt
- 1824 2nd Battalion became 39th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry under Major H Weston
- 1857 mutinied at Delhi 11 May
- 1857 disarmed at Dera Ismail Khan and disbanded
The 2nd Battalion, 3rd (Kumaon) Gurkha Regiment became 39th (The Garhwal Rifle) Regiment of Bengal Infantry in 1891.
