The Ganges River Tramway, 1853-54, is referred to the India Office Records (IOR) – see ‘Records’ below.
It seems possible that the this tramway on the River Ganges could be that of the Patna Tramways where little information is known.
Records
An on-line search of the India Office Records (IOR) records held at the British Library relating to this tramway [1] gives the following:-
- Z/E/4/24/G26; “Ganges River, Tramway to be constructed to facilitate transit on”; 1853-1854
- Z/E/4/24/R588 ; “Rivers, Ganges, Double tramway constructed to facilitate transit of”; 1853-1854
These records have not been examined and may provide further information.
