Ranigani & Sripur Equitable Coal Co. Railways
The 'Equitable Coal Company' with its head office at 1-2 Lord Sinha Road, Calcutta had collieries in the following locations [1]:-
- Ranigani Coalfield at Ranipur
- Sripur Coalfields at Bhanora, Bhanora South and Jamuria.
The records show that the company operated a significant number of 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) locomotives based on a shed at Balidah. The railway was used for quarrying and transportation of sand used for backfilling worked out underground coal seams [1].
