9th Jat Regiment was formed in 1922 by amalgamation of four existing regiments and consisted of four regular battalions. Further Battalions were formed during the Second World War

- 2nd Battalion: see 119th Infantry (The Mooltan Regiment)
- 3rd Battalion: see 10th Regiment of Jat Infantry
- 4th Battalion: see 18th Musulman Rajput Infantry
