Chronology
- 1825 formed as 2nd Extra Battalion, Bengal Native Infantry
- 1828 became 70th Bengal Native Infantry
- 1857 disarmed at Barrackpore 14 June
Following the Indian Mutiny the Bengal Army was restructured and the 70th Regiment was reformed as the 11th Bengal Native Infantry.
- 1861 became 11th Bengal Native Infantry
