  • 1864 known as 16th Bengal Cavalry
  • 1882 disbanded
  • 1885 raised in Ambala as 16th Regiment of Bengal Cavalry by Lt-Col G C Ross
  • 1890 became 16th Regiment of Bengal Lancers
  • 1901 became 16th Bengal Lancers
  • 1903 became 16th Cavalry
  • 1921 amalgamated with 13th Cavalry to become 13/16th Cavalry
  • 1922 became 6th Duke of Connaught's Own Lancers
  • 1947 allocated to Pakistan on Partition
