The Petlad-Cambay Railway was originally the Gaekwar's Petlad Railway which opened in May 1890 between Petlad and Anand, a distance of 13 miles(21km). It was a broad gauge(BG) line and worked by Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway(BB&CIR).
In 1901 the Petlad-Cambay Railway had created two BG sections, the entire line was worked by BB&CIR.
- Anand to Petlad,opened 1890; owned by the Princely Baroda State; extended to Tarapur June 1901. Total 21 miles(33km)[1].
- Tarapur to Cambay, opened June 1901; owned by the Princely Cambay State. Total 12 miles(19km) [2]
