A contract was made, dated 5 Feb 1920, between the Government of India and the GIPR formalising the arrangement for the earlier construction and continued working of the ‘Dhond and Baramati Railway’ by the GIPR. This Agreement IOR/L/F/8/19/1483 has been transcribed by FIBIS <ref>British Library ‘Indian Office Records’ </ref>.

Dhond-Baramati Railway

The Dhond-Baramati Railway 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) privately owned railway was under construction in 1913 by ‘Dhond and Baramati Railway Company’.

The line opened in May 1914 linking Dhond to Baramati, a line length of 27 miles(43km), and it added to the prosperity of the sugarcane industry in the region.
