The Darrang District Tramway in Assam had been reconnoitred in 1896 and was still under consideration in 1906. It was to operate between Ranoamti Ghat to Ghaorapara and was to be called the Mangaldoi Tramway. [1]There is no evidence that it was constructed.
Darrang was one of the Assam Districts during the British period. It is now an administrative district in the state of Assam and occupies an area of 3,481 sq km. The headquarters is located at Mangaldoi.
