Known as 1st Brahmans

In the Indian Mutiny the 21st Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry did not rebel and, in the ensuing disbandment of the Bengal Army regiments, it became the most senior.

1861 became the 1st Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
1901 became the 1st Brahman Infantry
1903 became the 1st Brahmans
1922 united with 62nd Punjabis, 66th Punjabis, 76th Punjabis, 82nd Punjabis, and 84th Punjabis and became 4th/1st Punjab Regiment
1931 disbanded
