Synopsis

Mohammed Ali, son of the Nawab of Arcot defeated at Amboor, took refuge in Trichinopoly. A British force under Captain Gingen sent to assist him was routed at Volconda (Valikandapuram) and retreated to Trichi. They were besieged by the ussurper Chanda Sahib.
