The Murtazapur-Yeotmal Railway opened in 1903 between Murtazapur (now called Murtajapur) and Yeotmal (now called Yavatmal).

The railway was extended from Murtazapur to Ellichpur (now called Achalpur) in 1913-14 becoming the Ellichpur-Murtazapur-Yeotmal Railway
