  • 1765 raised at Bankypore by Colonel Sir Robert Barker
  • 1764 ranked as 21st Battalion
  • 1765 posted to the 3rd Brigade
  • 1775 remained the 21st Battalion of Bengal Native Infantry
  • 1776 became the 29th Battaliont of Bengal Native Infantry
  • 1781 became the 29th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
  • 1783 became the 19th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
  • 1796 became the 2nd Battalion 11th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
  • 1824 became the 17th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
  • 1857 mutinied at Azimguhr 3 June

In 1861, after the mutiny, the title was given to the Loyal Purbeah Regiment which became the 17th (Loyal Purbeah) Regiment of Bengal Infantry.
