The Bengal and North Western Railway Battalion were an auxiliary regiment under the Bengal command. They comprised staff of the Bengal and North-Western Railway.
Chronology
- 1879 raised on 14th June as Bengal and North Western Railway Volunteer Rifles[1]
- 1892 amalgamated with the Tirhoot State Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps on 17th June (GGO 573, dated 17th June 1893)[1]
- 1901 designation altered (GOCC No. 327, dated 29th April 1901)[1]
- 1917 1st April became 22nd Bengal and North Western Railway Battalion[2]
- 1920 redesignated Bengal and North Western Railway Battalion on 1st October[2]
