Revision as of 15:46, 18 December 2015
The Katakhal-Lala Bazar Railway Co. Ltd. was a Public Company incorporated on 23 December 1915. The metre gauge(MG) line of 28 miles (45km) was approroved in 1916 by the Assam-Bengal Railway(ABR) [1] The line was under construction in 1921-22 [2]
No information has been found concerning the date of opening or the operation of the railway until 1952 where it states that the Katakhal-Lala Bazar Railway was being ‘worked by the Assam Railway'. The Assam Railway was formed on partition in 1947 from the breakup of the Bengal and Assam Railway(B&AR)
The B&AR was created in 1942 from the Assam-Bengal Railway(ABR)
So it seems probable that the Katakhal-Lala Bazar Railway had been worked by ABR during the period.
