Arrival and Departure notices were often printed in publications such as directories, periodicals and almanacs to announce those entering and leaving India. They can provide researchers with exact dates, names of ships travelled on, ports of origin and destination and even the surprise information that a research interest left the country for some time. The lists only detail civilians, company employees and army officers - other ranks and NCOs are not usually listed by name, but the movements of regiments is often noted.
