Effective Supernumeraries was a term used in the Presidency of Madras, for the section of the Madras Army that was responsible for assuring the supply of support services such as Ordnance, Commissariat, etc.

(In Bengal and Bombay this service was assured by the Town Major's List).

Later, this section would be known as the Unattached List.
