Kurnaul
Kurnaul was a military cantonment about 125km north from Delhi which was abandoned in 1841 due to a massive spread of malaria caused by faulty irrigation. Following this, the cantonment at Umballa about 85 km away (north) was built in 1843 as a replacement.
