35th Regiment of Foot
Also known as The Royal Sussex Regiment
Chronology
- 1693 raised as the Earl of Donegal's Regiment of Foot
- 1698 disbanded
- 1701 raised again. Also known as the Belfast Regiment
- 1747 became 35th Regiment of Foot
- 1751 given the title Prince of Orange's Own Regiment
- 1782 became the 35th (The Dorsetshire) Regiment of Foot
- 1805 became the 35th (Sussex) Regiment of Foot.
- 1881 united with the 107th Regiment of Foot (Bengal Light Infantry) to form The Royal Sussex Regiment
- 1966 was amalgamated with The Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment, The Queen's Own Buffs, The Royal Kent Regiment and The Middlesex Regiment and became 3rd Battalion The Queen's Regiment
- 1992 amalgamated with The Royal Hampshire Regiment to become The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (Queen's and Royal Hampshires)
