Burma, Kebwet Coal Mine Railway

The 'Shevbo Mining Syndicate' was established in 1891 to extract coal at Kebwet. A 2ft/610mm narrow gauge(NG) railway was used to carry coal from the mine to thye Irawaddy River. By 1923 23,000 tons of coal had been extracted, it was sold to Burma Railway(BR) and the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company. However the coal was of poor quality and the mine closed down by January 1905 [1].
