Bhandup Salt Works Tramway

The Bhandup Salt Pans are spread across 500 acres within the municipality of Bombay. The marsh lands were under the control of the Bombay Presidency Salt Department [1][2].

In 1921-22 the records show that the salt works were leased to 'Jamasji Battiwala, Dubash & Co' and at that time the Great Indian Peninsula Railway(GIPR) constructed a new siding for the removal of salt from three newly worked plots of the works [3].
