Charles Herbert Gadsby
Charles Herbert Gadsby (1866-1913)
- Served his apprenticeship at locomotive and tramway work from 1882 to 1889.
- In the latter year he joined the Brush Electrical Engineering Company, and subsequently had charge of their Testing Department at Loughborough.
- He obtained a Whitworth Scholarship in 1892 and studied at Nottingham University.
Railway Achievements in India
- 1894-96, joined the staff of the 'Electric Construction Company', and proceeded to Madras as superintending engineer on the 'Madras Electric Tramway Co Ltd' - see separate page
Later
- On his return he accepted an appointment with the British Electric Traction Company, with which Company he was connected until his death.
- He also practised as a consulting engineer and was responsible for the design and construction of the Devonport and District Tramways, and the Burton and Ashby Light Railway.
