IV. (Cossipore) Field Brigade
The Cossipore Field Brigade were an auxiliary regiment.
Chronology
- 1884 raised 1st February[1]
- 1888 redesignated as Cossipore Artillery Volunteers on the 7th September[1]
- 1917 became I. (Cossipore) Mobile Brigade Artillery, 1st April[2]
- 1920 redesignated IV. (Cossipore) Field Brigade, 1st October[2]
- 1925 amalgamated with the I. (Calcutta Port Defence) Field Brigade on the 18th December to form the Bengal Artillery (AFI)
First World War
Some members of the Cossipore Artillery Volunteers, along with members of the Calcutta Port Defence Volunteers, joined the Calcutta Volunteer Battery. Different detachments saw service in East Africa, Mesopotamia and Egypt.
