Walchandnagar Sugar Factory Railway

The 'Kalamb Sugar Factory' opened at Walchandnagar in 1933-34. The railway between the factory and the mainline came into use c.1941. The mainline mileage was about 22 miles(35km) and total mileage including cane lines was about 34 miles(54km) [1].

The records show that a significant number of 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) locomotives dating from 1923 were supplied to this site. The factory became 'Walchandnagar Industries Ltd during World War IIS. It is unknown if this railway is still in operation [1].
