Malegaon, near Baramati Sugar Factory Railway

The 'Nira Valley Sugar Company' established a sugar factory at Malegaon, near Baramati, it commenced production c.1922. The company failed after its third season due to lack of sugar cane.

The records show that a 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) locomotive was operational at the factory in 1922 [1].
