Nagpur-Rajnandgaon Railway

The Nagpur-Rajnandgaon Railway was the first section of the Nagpur Chhattisgarh Railway. The first survey for a line linking Nagpur with Raipur had been undertaken in 1871. Construction of a metre gauge(MG) line started in May 1878. The ‘Nagpur to Tumsar Road Section’ was opened in April 1880 and ‘Tumsar Road to Rajnandgaon Section’ in Dec 1880. Main Workshops and Loco shed were established at Motibagh and a second loco shed at Dongargrh [1]
