Chronology

  • 1776 raised as 18th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
  • 1857 mutinied

In 1861, after the mutiny, the title was briefly given to the Loyal Purbeah Regiment which subsequently became the 17th (Loyal Purbeah) Regiment of Bengal Infantry.
