Branch line opened by the Tarkessur Railway Co(qv); worked by EIR(qv) The Sheoraphuli-Tarakeswar Branch Line was constructed in 1885, and the EIR Howrah–Bardhaman Chord Railway, a shorter link to Bardhaman, was constructed in 1917
